SPAR Swiss Epic - Stage 2 - Best Of - Overall leaders defend their jerseys with another stage win

Stage 2 of the 2022 SPAR Swiss Epic features both the highest point in the 2022 race as well as the race’s longest descent that passes the lowest point of this year's edition, meaning teams will have to prepare for stage that tests limits but rewards with thrills aplenty. The Urdenfürggli, a bridleway which dates back to the fourteenth century, dominates the opening 15 kilometres. From the summit, an 8-kilometre-long trail drops into Lenzerheide, the home of Switzerland’s mountain biking World Cup XCO and Downhill tracks. More descending then follows, criss-crossing the Landwasser river towards Graubünden’s administrative capital, Chur. The final 30 kilometres of the stage require a climb through the Rhein Gorge - a real sting in the tail. However, the views of the turqoise waters of Lake Cauma, set in an emerald forest straight from a Brothers Grimm fairy-tale, provide a fitting finale to a marathon day.

The overall men & women leaders defend their jerseys with another stage win. Wilier Pirelli Factory, the reigning European Marathon Champ Fabian Rabensteiner and his partner Daniel Geismayr take home another stage win. In the women category, Davos Klosters Women, the german pair of Adelheid Morath and Bettina Janas won today’s transition stage with an overall time of 4h48min.
